Please join the Aurora History Museum and Aurora Sister Cities International after hours for the opening reception on May 12, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm, as we celebrate the heritage and contributions of our Ethiopian-born residents through the exhibit A Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora’s Ethiopian Communities. Catering is provided by Konjo Catering, a local Ethiopian restaurant.
The exhibit will showcase ethnic art, costume and cultural items and feature interviews and photo displays, giving voice to Ethiopian-born residents living, working and owning businesses in Aurora. A series of events will accompany the exhibit at the Aurora History Museum and throughout Aurora, including coffee ceremony displays, a film screening, an academic lecture, and dance performances at the city of Aurora’s annual Global Fest. Stay tuned for more information!
A Mosaic of Cultures is the first of 3-5 proposed exhibits to take place over the next five years that will focus on Aurora’s diaspora communities.
