Mission Centered Advocacy Training
The Community Resource Center is offering a training, Mission Centered Advocacy, on January 17th from 10am to 5pm.
Advocacy is an essential nonprofit best practice that positions our sector to advance missions and visions. In this session, participants will identify the root causes of the issues facing their organizations and understand means to achieve long-term change. The session will also explore best practices for engaging community members in efforts that achieve just and inclusive solutions.

This training will be facilitated by Emily Shamsid-Deen, Community Engagement Manager. Emily Shamsid-Deen has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 13 years. She has worked in HIV/AIDS education and prevention as a direct service provider, managed a statewide training program supporting domestic violence organizations, and ran a statewide leadership development program for those working to advance social justice issues in Colorado. Most recently, she was an Adjunct Faculty at Denver University in the Graduate School of Social Work teaching social welfare policy analysis and practice. Emily holds a BA in Political Science and Black Studies from Colorado College and a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University with an emphasis in Program Management. Emily is committed to working collaboratively with the nonprofit sector to increase their capacity to affect long-term systemic change in the communities they serve. Emily lives in Denver with her husband, two kids, and their dog Roscoe.
