Book Drive for Ethiopia – Volunteers Needed!

Throughout the past summer months, Aurora Sister Cities International has been running its Book Drive for Ethiopia. Designed to benefit the schools, libraries and orphan populations Aurora’s sister city of Adama, Ethiopia, the book drive has benefited enormously from the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the metro area.

However, that was the easy part. Aurora Sister Cities is now in need of volunteers to assist with the sorting, labeling, inventorying and packing stage of the drive. The organization will be holding a number of book sorting dates, which are as follows:

  • Friday October 9, 2015 from 9am-3pm.
  • Saturday October 10, 2015 from 9am-3pm
  • Friday October 16, 2015 from 9am-3pm
  • Saturday October 17, 2015 from 9am-3pm

The location for the book sorting is the Sand Creek Water Reuse Plant, located at 11405 E. 30th Avenue, Aurora, CO 80010. On each sorting date a small group of people will be showing up early to the reuse plant, in order to set up.

Aurora Sister Cities is also in need of boxes and shipping materials (including packing tape, labels, sharpies and plastic or latex gloves. After calculating the number of boxes needed for the books, the organization has determined that it needs between 650 to 700 boxes. Ideally boxes would be between 18x18x18 to 20x20x20. Lastly, the sorting would be made exponentially better through the donation of bottled water and snacks for the volunteers.

Thank you for your consideration.
