On August 19, 2016 Aurora Sister Cities International, together with the city of Aurora’s Office of International and Immigrant Affairs, welcomed a delegation from Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador. The primary purpose of the delegation visit was to officiate a friendship city relationship between Mayors Steve Hogan and Zoila Milagros Navas of Aurora and Antiguo Cuscatlán.

Upon arrival in Aurora, Mayor Navas and the delegation from Antiguo Cuscatlán toured the city and government center with city of Aurora staff members and representatives of local community organizations. They also attended official briefings and finally the signing ceremony where Mayor Steve Hogan and Mayor Zoila Milagros Navas signed the official friendship city partnership between their two cities.  Mayor Navas was also honored at the city of Aurora’s Global Fest on Saturday August 20th.

The friendship city agreement came as a result of Mayor Hogan’s visit to El Salvador in May and with strong support from the very large and active Salvadoran community in Aurora.  Aurora Sister Cities International looks forward to the cultural and educational exchanges to come between these two cities, as well as increased community engagement with the Salvadorian community here in Aurora!
