2019 Global Youth Leader Recap

This summer Aurora Sister Cities hosted two great summer programs where 39 students graduated! This was our biggest summer programming yet! We really enjoyed getting to know the youth of Aurora and what they brought to our program!

Our programs focus global leadership skills which include communication, citizenship, creativity, culture, character. Our program is dedicated to making sure students leave with leadership skills they did not have before. For example, both groups had an opportunity to talk to city council about issues in their communities. We want our students to be engaged in local problems and begin to ask questions. This summer we also partnered with Project C.U.R.E to show students about how a local effort can make a global impact. We had our students make Kits for Kids to demonstrate how Project C.U.R.E.’s model has impacted many across the globe. Our students have the opportunity to start thinking about their communities and the Global Youth Leaders program provides the tools and resources to continue on exploring more solutions to these problems.

Here are some pictures of both of our camps.. which include our peer facilitators, our volunteer activity with Project C.U.R.E. and other activities we did throughout the week!
