October 11 Celebrations

Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day in the U.S. and it is the International Day of the Girl Child.

We honor the founders of our city—the first Indigenous People who walked this land. Members of the Arapahoe, Cheyenne and Ute Nations were the first residents of the area now known as Aurora, CO. We thank our founders for their many contributions to our city, state and nation!

We also pay tribute to girls all over the world. The United Nations theme for this year is , “Digital generation. Our generation.” We encourage our community to end the digital divide and empower all girls to excel in technology and live their dreams.
