This Black History Month we honor the legacy of Toni Morrison, a literary giant whose words have forever altered the landscape of American literature. Morrison’s novels, from “Beloved” to “Song of Solomon,” weave rich narratives that challenge, inspire, and offer deep insights into the human experience.

Let us remember Toni Morrison, not just this month but in every word we read and write, in every story that moves us to look deeper within and at the world around us.

“Dreams” by Langston Hughes,

This poem emphasizes the vital importance of dreams in our lives. Hughes metaphorically compares dreams to the wings of a bird that enable it to fly; without dreams, life becomes like a “broken-winged bird” that cannot take flight, symbolizing a state of despair and limitation.

Let’s honor the legacy of Langston Hughes not just during Black History Month, but all year round. His words and wisdom are a beacon of light, reminding us of the enduring power of resilience and hope.
