A Mosaic of Cultures Opening Reception Highlights

Tuesday, May 17th, 2016.

Thursday night’s opening reception of the exhibit A Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora’s Ethiopian Communities was a great success. In attendance were Mayor Steve Hogan and his wife Becky Hogan, ASCI board members, and many individuals from the local Ethiopian community. Mayor Steve Hogan recalled the official visit to Aurora’s sister city, Adama (Ethiopia) and encouraged the community to take part in the ASCI programs and initiatives. Gary Margolis, Cultural Services Manager at the Aurora History Museum spoke about the difficult task of accurately putting together an exhibit representing the different regions of Ethiopia. Karlyn Shorb, CEO of ASCI, thanked the Aurora History Museum staff for putting together an exceptional exhibit and acknowledged the numerous members  of the Ethiopian community who loaned their personal items for the exhibit. The food was generously provided by Konjo Catering and dessert was provided by Megenagna Restaurant and Bakery.

The exhibit will be on display until September 11, 2016. Be sure to head down to the Aurora History Museum to take a look. Entry is always free at the museum.
