The Great Lawn in front of the Aurora Municipal center was packed with tents covered in vibrant decorations, food trucks and stands filled with sweet-smelling foods from across the world. Visitors walked around dressed in clothes from their native homelands including beautiful outfits from Ethiopia, Korea, El Salvador, and so many more! Groups representing their respective countries sang, danced, and performed in front of a full audience. In short, Global Fest 2016 was a huge success!
Aurora Sister Cities International was well-represented at this event! The delegation from our new friendship city Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador, including Mayor Zoila Milagros Navas, were welcomed as honored guests by Mayor Steve Hogan. Representatives from our Korean community shared their culture and stories through activities and food at their booth and beautiful outfits featured in the fashion show. Our representatives from Ethiopia set up a gorgeous and fragrant stand that featured a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony and, of course, Ethiopian coffee beans for sale! After such a great festival we can’t help but start looking forward to Global Fest 2017! We’ll see you all there!
