The Around the World in Aurora Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser Raised Funds for Youth Travel Scholarships!

Though we miss large in-person events, the Around the World in Aurora scavenger hunt did a fantastic job getting families safely out of their homes while promoting local partnerships centered on culture and education!

100% of the ticket sales from the scavenger hunt will go to travel scholarships for the 2021 Sister Cities Youth Exchange to Jaco, Costa Rica. Twenty-seven locations on Colfax and Havana Street were featured on the hunt and included ethnic restaurants, mom & pop stores and art in public places.  Third Culture Bakery, the People’s Building, Fox Theatre, the Village Exchange Center, Pupusas la Salvadoreña, Megenagna Ethiopian Restaurant, Heirlooms Antique Mall, Nile Ethiopian Restaurant, Hobby Town USA, Dae Gee Korean BBQ, Katsu Ramen, Lucy’s Flowers & Gifts, Yum Yum Bakery, Chutney Restaurant, the Stampede Bar, Volcano Tea House, and H-Mart were just a few of the places teams discovered while on the scavenger hunt. Participants took part in photo challenges, tried new food, and learned new things while on the hunt. Many teams noted they discovered new art in public places and enjoyed seeing the new Colfax Canvas exhibit.

We’d like to thank OnHavana Street Business Improvement District who sponsored the fundraiser.  We loved showcasing businesses and restaurants on Havana St and had a wonderful time learning about the art, history and diversity of our amazing community!
