Victory of Adwa with the Colorado Ethiopian Community

Aurora Sister Cities International Celebrates the Victory of Adwa with the Colorado Ethiopian Community

On March 2, 1896, history was made when Ethiopia achieved a decisive victory at Adwa, defeating colonial Italian forces and securing its independence. This triumph became a powerful symbol of African resistance, unity, and pride.

Today, 129 years later, Aurora Sister Cities International (ASCI) had the privilege of joining the Colorado Ethiopian Community to commemorate this momentous occasion. The celebration was filled with energy, culture, and a strong sense of community, reminding us of the significance of honoring history and fostering connections across cultures.

The event featured inspiring speeches, cultural performances, and reflections on Adwa’s lasting impact in today’s world. As an organization dedicated to building bridges between global communities, ASCI reaffirms its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural understanding.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Colorado Ethiopian Community for welcoming us and allowing us to share in this day of pride and remembrance. Together, we continue to build a future rooted in respect and mutual understanding!
